The Communitarian Mission refers to someone who prioritizes the well-being of their community and advocates for a gospel-centered approach to participating in the mission of God by empowering their community to thrive. In doing so, Communitarians reflect God’s desire to reconcile all things – restoring people and places to a right relationship with each other, to all of creation, and to God. Communitarians are actively involved in community care. Community care is the act of individuals or groups providing support, assistance, or care to others, particularly addressing social vulnerabilities, to enhance their well-being or meet their needs. Community care encompasses addressing personal concerns by providing support and empathy, fostering community development through collaborative initiatives, and promoting mental and physical health by offering emotional encouragement, healthcare access, and resources. It also involves prioritizing the needs of vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly, homeless, or marginalized, ensuring they receive compassion and assistance to overcome social vulnerabilities.
